Taylor Swift introduced “Ronan” to her set last night, a song that she’s only ever performed live once.
Amidst a crowd of eager fans, Taylor talked a bit about the story behind “Ronan”, making it a point to mention that Ronan’s mom was in the crowd that night.
“Ronan” tells the story of a little boy named Ronan who passed away in 2011 from neuroblastoma, a form of childhood cancer. Taylor came to know his story and his mom’s story and penned “Ronan” from those moments.
The song premiered in 2012 at the Stand Up 2 Cancer telethon and has never been played live since, until last night.
Taylor, whose own mom is now battling cancer, sang with power and emotion in memory of Ronan.
