A Weekend Made with Code

After I lost my grandmother I decided to create Too Damn Young. My desire to start Too Damn Young simply came from my need to create something. I don’t know if this can be categorized into anything specific with grieving, but for me it was important to channel my loss in a positive way.

Google recently revealed a new initiative, Made with Code, with the hope that it will encourage girls between the ages of 13-18 to learn how to code. It would also be pretty cool to see how coding can also help someone who’s lost a loved one. Would creating an app, website, or a really cool 3D bracelet somehow empower girls to work through their grief. Would it help you?

Google’s Made with Code website is packed with different resources and beginner projects that will help you figure everything out.

Full disclosure – I have no clue how to code. (But, I do want to learn.) What I can say is that creating something is really cathartic. Suddenly you’re able to turn your feelings into something more tangible that makes things a lot less scary.

Have you ever thought about learning how to code? Or creating something on your own? Let me know in the comments!
