The “whys” and “what ifs” are all consuming.
In a nutshell, this phrase sums up the entire episode of Chasing Life.
April’s mom isn’t dealing with April’s diagnosis in the best way — she’s pressuring April A LOT, especially when it comes to telling her when to start what treatment. At the core of it all April’s mom is scared. We’ve all been there. But, April’s also afraid and it won’t help anyone if she feels like she’s going over the deep end.
April has the right to choose what she wants to do next. This leads to a bit of irony because even though April is fighting her mom for this right, she takes the power to choose away from Dom.
As an audience we have to come to accept that April isn’t going to tell Dominic. Episode 7 drove that point home when April told Dom to go on tour with Daft Punk without ever revealing that she has cancer. We all know that once Beth finds out about this she’s going to give April a piece of her mind. Especially after Beth told her this: “It’s his life and he can make his own decisions.”
The entire episode was centered on April getting her first byline in the paper. The first byline party Dom threw for her was as epic as you’d expect it to be.
My favorite scene? Any scene that included Leo. I’ve officially converted to #TeamLeo. He’s so honest and willing to live that I so want him and April to have a thing.
The episode as a whole served as a bridge between the first half of the season and the next half. There are still a lot of unknowns, but if the preview is any indication, April is going to really live while she has life.
