“Survivors are people who appreciate life the most”
Chasing Life’s summer season finale was everything I could have wanted and SO.MUCH.MORE.
It started off with this scene right before April enters the hospital for a month:
What happens next offers closure for a lot of story lines that have developed through the season.
1. Greer and Breena
They’ve headed for done-zo city. After getting called to the principal’s office for breaking off during the Eco trip to Florida, Brenna is left to tell her mom all about it. This leads to Brenna fighting with her mom and revealing that she knows about Natalie and also knows that her mom knows about Natalie. When they head to school to deal with the issue, they find that Greer’s parents have donated a lot of money to make the problem go away. Strings are attached though — Greer and Brenna are never to see each other again.
2. Beth and April
They’re better than ever. Beth is by April’s side through chemo and even sleeps over to keep her company. Even though it must be so hard to watch her best friend be sick, Beth is seriously powering through. Favorite quote of the episode was when she said, “ward walks, my fave.”
3. April and Dominic
So for like 5 minutes during last night’s episode April and Dom were a thing again. April finally told Dominic that she knew she had cancer all along. They were finally getting to a good place when Dominic realized that April’s heart is divided between him and Leo. At the end, he decided to take a step away from April.
4. April and Leo
Oh, how I wish they were a thing. I’m #TeamLeo all the way. He comes through for her at all the right moments, especially when she’s at her lowest. For example when April wanted to bail out of chemo and leave the hospital, Leo reminded her that she was going to live and that she had to keep chasing life.
Favorite quote: “You refused to accept that you wouldn’t have a future because you know you’re supposed to live.”
The episode ends with only two days left in April’s chemo, Dominic having left, and a very mysterious voicemail from Leo. Secretly, I’m hoping the voicemail explains Leo’s parents being on the same hospital floor as April and I really hope it means that Leo decided to have the surgery.
Chasing Life won’t be back until Christmas, which means we have exactly 4 months to make up a million conspiracy theories.
Did Chasing Life make a fan out of you this season?
