In an amazing write up titled “The Mindy Kaling Guide to Entrepreneurial Domination” #1 highlights an aspect of Mindy Kaling’s life, and work ethic, that makes her even more lovable/admirable.
Tip 1 of 5, straight from Mindy Kaling’s career, is Be Passionate. Even though being passionate is such an awesome tip, it’s the story behind the tip that really got us.
Two years ago, on the same day that The Mindy Project became official, Mindy’s mother died of pancreatic cancer. Mindy’s mom was an obstetrician and easily one of Mindy’s first personal role models.
After she passed away, Mindy is quoted with saying, ““My dream is to be able to become so famous that I can actually make a difference in pancreatic cancer research.”
Suddenly, Mindy took something terrible and life shattering, like having your mom die, and found the silver lining, which is admittedly very difficult to find.
Mindy Kaling turned her grief into something positive and hasn’t stopped doing it since. She wants to make a difference in pancreatic cancer research in honor of her mom and I’m sure she’ll achieve this.
In the meantime, her story is already an inspiration and something anyone who has lost a loved one can hold on to.
Thanks for all the laughs and inspiration, Mindy.
