Tyler Posey recently told the world his hero is his mom. Re-watching the YouTube video of just how this announcement played out is heartbreaking because just a few weeks after its release, Cyndi Terese Garcia-Posey passed away.
As Tyler expands on in the video, his mom was diagnosed with breast cancer four years ago. Her spirit, her determination to keep the family together and her love for them all are just some of the reasons why he calls her his hero.
A few days before her death he tweeted out that he would be taking a break from Twitter:
Hey guys I’m gonna be taking a little break from social media. Thank you for all of the support, I love you guys. I’ll be back soon.

Since then he has tweeted out a sweet message for his fans: “Just want to say thank you for all the love and the support my guys 🙂 you all mean so much to me. I wish I could repay the favor!”
Throughout the video, it’s evident how much Tyler credits who he is to who his mom helped him become.
We can’t eulogize Cyndi or say that we understand how Tyler and his family’s day-to-day grief is playing out.
What can be written with certainty is this: it does not matter how old a person is when they die, or how long you knew their passing was a matter of when and not if, because when it does happen, and they’ve taken their last breathe, their death steals one of yours.
My heart goes out to Tyler, his brothers, his dad and anyone else his mom’s life touched.
